It was windy. Really, really windy. Blow you over and spin your hair into a tornado, windy. It was, after all, April in Las Vegas.
But Mikayla wanted to hear nothing about the wind. Her blinders were on, and the only thing that was in front of her was seeing her soon-to-be husband, Tony, just hours away. Her dressing room buzzed with bridesmaids… each whispering in my ear… “It’s so windy, what are we going to do?” They whispered because each one of them was concerned that it wasn’t going to be the perfect day that Mikayla had always imagined. But, let’s face it… no matter how much each of her bridesmaids worried about the weather, and no matter how many whispers were exchanged… nothing was going to change the weather. And the weather didn’t need to change, because given rain, sleet, snow, wind, or hail… Mikayla was going to marry Tony that day, and by the time the sun set… they would call each other husband and wife.
Mikayla has a radiance about her. A laid-back coolness that others admire. She has the ability to light up a room, all while being amazingly selfless and kind. And this radiance was magnified the moment she slipped into her wedding dress.
Tony’s daughter McKenzie was one of the two flower girls for the wedding. They also included her in the wedding ceremony in order to document, not only the merging of two souls, but the formation of a new family. I don’t think that there was a dry eye in the congregation… or behind my camera.
So remember that wind that I told you about earlier? This is why I wasn’t worried. I looooove wind, and am convinced that I should hire a life-assistant to constantly follow me around with a commercial grade fan.
This portrait of Mikayla makes me gasp.
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs.!! I hope that you enjoyed your honeymoon in Belize, and that your life as the Morfin family (with a new hedgehog in tow) is off to a wonderful beginning. xo.
