The number π is a mathematical constant, the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, commonly approximated as 3.1415. It only happens once in every century that π day can be celebrated to the fifth interval following the decimal; thus, it won’t be celebrated to this full magnitude again until March 14, 2115. And it seems only fitting that Aeri and Andy… who took 15 years of knowing one another… should be married on such a rare date.
This was truly the first time that I had ever heard about π day. So, it was a first for me. It was also my first time shooting in the penthouse of a major hotel on the Las Vegas strip. We arrived at the hotel ready to begin our day, only to discover that we needed to be escorted in order to gain access to the penthouse. Once we arrived, we were greeted by beautiful light that streamed through floor to ceiling windows… and gorgeous people to blanket in that beautiful light. Aeri and Andy were surrounded by their most beloved friends and cousins as they prepared for their wedding day, and the beginning of their wedding day could not have run more smoothly.
We headed to Canyon Gate Country Club to have Aeri & Andy’s first look. It could not have been a more picture-perfect representation of a spring day in the desert. The pear trees (thank you Janelle for knowing the type of tree) were just beginning to bloom, the sunlight filtered so beautifully through the blossoms… but even more beautiful was the moment that was unfolding in the shade of those blossoms. Andy took Aeri’s hand and told her everything that was going through his mind. He loved every inch of her, and he was sure to make sure that she knew it. In true π day fashion, Aeri couldn’t resist the opportunity to send her guests home with some pie wedding favors! And I couldn’t resist setting those gorgeous new rings right down on top of them for a perfectly themed ring shot.
This photo below represents everything that I loved about Aeri and Andy’s wedding. Their families. They incorporated their family into every aspect of their wedding, and these adorable ring bearers and flower girl did a fantastic job of walking down the aisle! Their photo shoot after the wedding may have gotten a little hairy, but we managed one beautiful image of the five toddlers and the bride and groom. And that one image shows you just how much joy Aeri and Andy’s family brings them.Aeri and Andy… thank you so much for teaching me about π… and for feeding me pie. I wish you guys love and laughter… forever, just like π.
