Joanne had a vision. From day one. She is the type of person who not only knows what she wants, but also knows how to execute her plans, with kindness. She is soft-spoken, and caring. Warm and kind. But she’s also this bad ass type of boss lady that knows how to get her job done while also making you fall in love with her during the process. So, like I said, Joanne had a vision from the very beginning of the wedding process. She wanted a beautiful outdoor wedding with a flare of boho in the Las Vegas desert.
Joanne and Ross are from New York, but their friends and family are scattered around the world. Several international flights were needed in order for the celebration of this wedding to take place, so instead of host the wedding in New York, they opted for the visitor-friendly city of Las Vegas. They made sure that every moment of their wedding showed their friends and family both the quintessential casinos and a different side of Las Vegas, as well. They hosted a fabulous rehearsal dinner / welcome party at the Las Vegas Boneyard which is a museum that houses all of the old hotel and Vegas signage that has been taken down over the years. Their guests enjoyed staying in the lap of luxury on the strip during their downtime, and then Joanne & Ross whisked them away to Las Vegas Springs Preserve to enjoy a bit of the desert scenery for their wedding.
Even though it was the beginning of June, it seemed that the smoldering heat stayed at bay for just a little while longer in order for Joanne & Ross to spend their day drenched in love from their friends and family… rather than sweat from the Vegas desert!! We started our day at the Mandarin Oriental where Joanne dressed before the wedding. Joanne chose this beautiful Reem Acra gown with an illusion back and décolletage. It was absolutely stunning, and I could not stop shooting it all day long. I talked before about Joanne, and how wonderfully kind, soft-spoken and amazing she is, but let me tell you that Ross is possibly her direct counterpoint. He is outspoken and full of laughter!! He tells jokes, and loves for his true, authentic self to shine though!! Joanne & Ross compliment each other in so so so many ways, yet they also follow the old adage that opposites do, in fact, attract. Joanne & Ross are both so incredibly detail oriented. They both left no stone unturned… even down to the monogrammed cuffs of Ross’s shirt. JR. Joanne & Ross. Ross is in the music industry, so it was only fitting that musical instruments be integrated into their wedding! Everyone received a customized tambourine on their seat; which were used to cheer for the new husband and wife as they walked back down the aisle together!!
This!!! This setup!!! This was Joanne’s baby, and it was a SHOWSTOPPER!! I have never seen Springs Preserve set up this way, and it was beyond amazing in person!!! The photo does do it a little bit of justice, but it was TRULY phenomenal!!
Rather than have a traditional wedding cake, Mr. & Mrs. Peterson decided that they wanted to have a donut hole tower instead, and rather than a cake cutting, they poured melted chocolate and caramel over the delicious desert together!!
Their reception was spent milling through avenues of familiar faces, and dancing under the desert stars; which is exactly how Joanne & Ross planned it.
