My sister, Kerri, is an artist. My Grandma, an insanely talented painter, passed this gene along to her. I was always so jealous of my sister’s talent growing up. There were so many art projects she did at school that would be placed on our mantel… framed and hung on the wall… bragged about to friends and family. I, on the other hand, have a hard time making a stick figure look like he’s not suffering. Sure, I was good at other things. Everyone is different. We are all special in our own unique way… yaddy yaddy yaddy… but that’s not what I wanted to hear. I wanted so badly to be blessed with my Grandma’s talent, as well.
Today feels a little bit like I get to hang a piece of art on my walls… lean a canvas on my mantel… and maybe my parents will brag about me a little bit, too (wink, wink). Because today a wedding that I shot is featured over on The Black Tie Bride. The Black Tie Bride is a blog that was founded by photographers. Insanely talented… knock your socks off… blow your mind photographers. It is founded by Justin and Mary Marantz.
I emailed Mary a few weeks ago with the link to Crystal and Jared’s wedding. I had high hopes, as I really really loved how gorgeous this wedding was… but I also had huge lingerings of doubt… because, I mean… come on… this is Justin and Mary we’re talking about! Mary returned my email with a simple, “Ahh we LOVE it!!! And we would love to feature this on BTB!” Cue lump to throat, butterflies to stomach, tears to eyes, and a pink crayon to go ahead and start coloring my world!! Elated is not a big enough word.
For Justin and Mary to have put their stamp of approval on anything that I have created is… where are the words… why can’t I find the words…
Justin and Mary just validated everything that I have been working on in the last five years. Everything.
