We were in San Francisco last December for a romantic husband and wife (read: without the kids) three day getaway. Our time in San Francisco, as wonderful as it was, had come to an end and we were in the taxi on the way to the airport to head back to Las Vegas. A fleeting thought dared to scurry across my brain, undetected; however, I pounced. I wanted to have some new marketing material for an upcoming bridal show. It was December 31st and the show was set to take place on January 18th.
I have this weird way about me. Some might call it impulsivity, but I like to call it spontaneous and passionate. When I have something big coming up… like a wedding, or a bridal show, or a new bride meeting I will get some crazy idea in my head… and it’s usually at the last minute which makes my husband really love me… but once the idea is in my head, there is no stopping me from making it happen. These ideas can range from getting new canvases printed just days before an event, redesigning a new website on a whim, or throwing together a last minute photo shoot in order to have new marketing material designed and printed within a two week time span.
By the time we got to the airport, I had contacted one of my brides who I knew was going to be in town soon and I asked her if she could get her hands on a wedding dress (not hers, of course). She could. Her friend had recently been married and they were about the same size. So then I asked her if she would be willing to do the shoot. She was. So then I contacted my favorite florist in town, unbeknownst to her because we had never worked together. Catherine at Layers of Lovely agreed to supply a romantic bouquet for the shoot. I also contacted an amazing cake designer from Showboy Bakeshop who I had recently worked with and loved. He was on board too. Also incredibly important was the hair and makeup team. There wasn’t an option to use anyone except for the girls behind the premier mobile makeup team of Your Beauty Call… and luckily, they agreed to help too. Before we boarded the plane to head home the entire shoot was arranged, and Suzanne… the brilliant brain behind SHEpaperie would design the promo piece for me.
At this point I really have to apologize, because after all of that write up – I’m not actually going to show you the photos from that shoot. I will, at some point… but this post is about something completely different. You see, in order to make the shoot with the Bride and Groom’s trouble I told them that after we shot the bridal styled shoot for my new promotional piece I would do a quick round of engagement photos as well. This served us both really well because I feel like it is incredibly important to do an engagement shoot with each of my couples; however, Micah and Amy had already done engagement photos in Arizona prior to booking me. So, they got to have some more engagement photos… and I got to teach them how I shoot prior to their wedding day.
After a long-winded back story to the shoot… I’m happy to announce that those engagement photos have been featured today on the amazing wedding blog, Engaged and Inspired. I am so incredibly honored to have any of my work featured on wedding inspiration websites and blogs, but to be featured on Engaged and Inspired made me extra giddy.
Head over and check out the feature!!
